The 29-year-old Say My Name hitmaker responds gracefully to a Twitter user who called her “thick.”
“I gained weight get over it,” Bebe Rexha wrote on May 20.
The comment came from a short video clip that Bebe Rexha posted on Twitter where she performs at Hangout Music Festival in Alabama. In the video, Bebe Rexha is holding a white statement t-shirt (My Vagina, My Choice).
“Okay don’t mean to disrespect but aint too thiccccck!??” the twitter user wrote, “I mean never saw her like that BEFORE!! from the song with other two country dudes!!”
However, it’s not just the body shaming that has gotten attention, but how the people reacted to the body shaming.
“Your body is beautiful but what’s even more beautiful is your confidence, please don’t let anyone take that away from you!” one fan said. “The most important thing is that you’re happy and you feel good in your body, other people’s opinions are SO irrelevant when it comes to that topic.”
However, this is not the first time that Bebe Rexha has spoken up reagrding the body-shaming issue. The Say My Name singer has called out the fashion industry after some designers refused to dress her for the Grammys because of her ‘size.’
“Empower women to love their bodies instead of making girls and women feel less then by their size,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “We are beautiful any size! Small or large! Anddddd My size 8 ass is still going to the Grammys. #LOVEYOURBODY.”
Many of her fans simply said it’s her body, and it’s her choice, and that Bebe Rexha looked gorgeous.
