How to get healthy without going on a diet

Darya is a neuroscientist, author, foodist, and a well-known blogger who focuses on society’s problems of eating habits and losing weight. She discusses on her TedxSalem talk how your way of thinking impacts our ability to create healthy eating habits and healthy life choices.

In her talk, she says that healthy eating has become her joy, her default and her life-long new identity. Darya also mentions that mindfulness is the secret to having healthy choices. “Mindfulness is a skill that allows you to become aware of your current mental state. It creates the pause necessary for you to reflect on your values before reacting. Giving you the mental flexibility you need to choose something new.”

Another strategy that she suggests is having a growth mindset. Darya shares that growth mindset is something that you can develop. Health, however, is one of the most difficult areas in life to have a growth mindset. She shares in the video on how she breaks out of her old habits and have a growth mindset.

“Someone with a growth mindset always remains focus on what is workable. They keep their attention on actions and things they can control to get a different outcome next time.”

Darya Rose has her own website, ‘Summer Tomato’ where she teaches people on how to get healthy and lose weight without dieting. She also published her book – Foodist: Using Real Food and Real Science to Lose Weight Without Dieting.
