PCOO execs discuss war vs drugs, FOI during Liga ng mga Brgy

Officials from the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) discussed during the 2nd National Assembly of the Liga ng mga Barangay at Waterfront Hotel Cebu how to communicate the programs of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

Asec. Ramon Cualoping III talked about the President’s all encompassing campaign on drug rehabilitation program which is Rehabinasyon.

He encouraged local government officials present in the event to help communicate the real stories and data in Duterte’s war on drugs in their respective localities.

He also asked them to help dismiss disinformation about it.

“Uso ngayon ang fake news, pag-skew sa balita at paninira, masyadong toxic ang politika so sana you’ll listen as I use the opportunity to play out the facts and figures on the war on drugs,” Cualoping said in front of hundreds of top village chiefs in the country.

With this, the PCOO hopes that the people are able to know the truth about the anti-drugs campaign and dismiss allegations of disinformation as they presented the data collected from the national government agencies in their operations to eliminate illegal drugs.

“Ang war on drugs po ay hindi po pwede ma-stop kasi the campaign against illegal drugs as we all know it is an investment for the future,” Cualoping said.

In calling the public’s support in attaining a drug-free Philippines, Cualoping said the PCOO has been communicating about Rehabinasyon to the public which they categorize as the informed, misinformed, people who refuse to understand, and uninformed.

Cualoping said the role of barangay leaders is vital as they are the frontliners in identifying the issues and concerns in their areas.

Meanwhile, PCOO Asec. Kristian Ablan talked about the Freedom of Information (FOI) Executive Order of the President that promotes government transparency wherein he encouraged the village leaders to use the FOI website to seek and ask information from national government agencies. (fan/pia7)
